Ballad of Guru Ram Das

Guru Das Singh

1. Jetha was the name of a man, whose eyes shone like the sun.
He spent his days in prayer and work, at the service of the Lord.
When the Guru heard of such a one, he had him brought into his room. Ram Das shall be your name, my son, and I crown you Fourth Guru.

Chorus:
Guru, Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru

2. Disguised at night in the streets of Amritsar, He washed the feet of the poor. To their surprise in the mornings they’d find that this man was their Guru.
He gave us the Holy Nectar Tank to wash the wounds of our souls.
And in praise to the name of such a One, now we’ve come to sing this song. Chorus

Guru, Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru

3. I’d spend my life sitting at your feet, O Enlightener of my soul.
May the glory of your name forever live and the story of His love be ever told. Chorus
Guru, Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru

God loves us, when we sing

Text & Melodie: Mata Mandir Singh

Dear Lord, its of you, that we sing, of the scriptures divine and the wisdom they bring. May the truth prevail in a soul of mankind, righteous action and love we may find. When my heart it feels heavy and the dust of sleep will not come,
night it seems never ending, the cure is in praising the One.

Ardas Bhei, Amar Das Guru, Amar Das Guru, Ardas Bhei. Ram Das Guru, Ram Das Guru, Ram Das Guru, Satche Sahi.

When the fingers bring such a sound to the string, and the drums make a sound, holy voices abound, sweet harmony to my mind it brings, God loves us, when we sing.
When the distance we travel, seems endless, and we have lost our way home,
only the Lord`s meditation will show us, we are never alone.

Ardas Bhei, Amar Das Guru, Amar Das Guru, Ardas Bhei. Ram Das Guru, Ram Das Guru, Ram Das Guru, Satche Sahi.

Sing of battles in ages past, sing of those who died, so the truth would survive. Sing of saints of old and their actions bold, that our faith may never grow cold. And the eastern sky in the morning, casts a glow of warmth from the sun.
The saints are busy reciting Thy praises, oh infinite One.

Ardas Bhei, Amar Das Guru, Amar Das Guru, Ardas Bhei. Ram Das Guru, Ram Das Guru, Ram Das Guru, Satche Sahi.

The Golden Temple Song

Guru Singh Khalsa

1. Who ever thought we could find a holy man, who’d take away our cares? Who ever thought we could find a holy man, who’d never put on airs? Come with us as quickly as you can,
And we’ll take you there.

Chorus:
Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das

2. He had a beard just as long as you’ve ever seen or heard.
Just to touch the dust of the dust of the dust of the feet of the people. He built his house to show that we bow before the Word,
And on the top he put a golden steeple.

Chorus:

3. We’ve got a house built half of marble and half of gold. All around a nectar tank with its vibrations of old.
We feed about ten thousand neighbors every day. Rainbow light high in the sky to guide us on our way.

Chorus :

4. Built a temple with doors open to all four winds.
Instead of a high place, he chose the ground where love begins. Your body’s a temple entering into the Golden Age.
The story is quite simple. It’s been told by every sage.
Take a hold of your Goden Temple – [3x]

Chorus-[2x]

5. Blessed be the soul for the man who takes a sip and a dip in the water. Golden sun and marble moon will purify the water.
Awake in the water children, think about the life that you’re given. You’re eternally living within the Lord.
